In the fall of 2002 we decided to buy a bigger motorhome suitable for our planned trip to Alaska in the summer of 2003. Our Safari Trek had been the perfect coach for us when we were making two week summer trips and long weekend local excursions. We loved the Trek and considered taking it to Alaska but, in the end, decided we needed more storage space (and a bedroom would be nice). Our choice of the Dolphin was mostly based on the floorplan with the large rear slide.

We shopped around and finally took delivery in February 2003. Lesson Learned #1: Never take delivery of a coach in winter. We almost froze to death transferring stuff from the Trek to the Dolphin and we had subsequent water problems that would have been detected easily if it was warm enough to put water in the tank.
Other factors in the selection of this coach design included the Workhorse W-22 chassis with the five speed Allison transmission and an electrical system that included four –six volt “golf cart” batteries and a 2,000 watt inverter.
The following photo gallery shown our coach “in action” at our various travel destinations.
In the four years we owned the coach we covered the continent. We visited four countries, 32 states, nine provinces and traveled 52,000 miles. We visited the corners; Newfoundland and Alaska in the north; Baja, Belize and Key West in the south.
